Hello Guides! Passing Down Parade 2026 marks a meaningful milestone in our Guides journey, as the Year 4s entrust the 团 to the Year 3s, while the newly enrolled Year 1s join our ever-growing Guides family!
From the meaningful moments to the unforgettable memories, here is a glimpse into the highlights of Passing Down Parade 2026…
Reflection from a Year 1 on Sports Enrichment Programme:
On 25th June, the Year 1s and Year 2s had the opportunity to experience rollerblading during the Sports Enrichment Activity. Although I had rollerbladed before, I was quite nervous at first as I had not done it in a long time. I was worried that I might have forgotten how to balance properly and would struggle to get used to the rollerblades again. However, as I continued practising, I gradually became more comfortable and started improving. It was encouraging to see myself getting better as the activity went on, especially since I had been so unsure of myself at the beginning. One thing I learnt from this experience was that sometimes, we just need to give ourselves a chance instead of immediately assuming that we cannot do something. Even though I was nervous at first, I realised that I was still capable of improving with some practice and patience. It reminded me that we should not let our fears or lack of confidence stop us from trying new things. I also learnt that it is perfectly fine to make mistakes when learning something, as what matters is that we keep trying and do not give up too easily. Apart from learning to rollerblade again, I also enjoyed being able to spend time with my fellow Guides outside our usual CCA activities. It was a nice opportunity for us to have fun together and bond in a different environment. I feel that experiences like these help us become closer as a patrol and 团, allowing us to create memories together beyond our usual CCA sessions. Overall, I really enjoyed the enrichment activity and am glad that I got to participate in it. Although I was nervous initially, I managed to overcome some of that nervousness and improve throughout the session. This experience reminded me to be more open to trying new things, even if I am not entirely confident in myself. I hope to bring this mindset into future activities and continue challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone.
Reflection from a Year 2 on Sports Enrichment Programme:
During this year’s Passing Down Parade, we participated in a Sports Enrichment Programme where we tried rollerblading. At the start of the session, we first put on our safety gear, which included helmets, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards. We were then taught how to stand up while wearing our skates. This involved kneeling down, placing one leg firmly on the ground and pushing ourselves up into a standing position. After learning how to stand, we practised pushing ourselves forward and eventually learnt how to skate around cones. Although the activities seemed relatively simple, I found roller skating much more difficult than I had expected. After that, we started skating rounds around the parade square. Although many of us were nervous at first, we eventually became more comfortable with the activity. This experience taught me many things. Firstly, I learnt the importance of perseverance when trying something unfamiliar. At first, I was really scared of falling and embarrassing myself and I fell down quite a lot while attempting to skate, especially when I was still trying to get used to balancing on the wheels. At that time, although it was frustrating having to get back up and try again, I learnt that falling down was part of the learning process and that I had to keep trying instead of giving up. Eventually, I started getting the hang of it and became more comfortable skating around the parade square! Secondly, I learnt the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone. Initially, I was quite hesitant to push myself forward as I was afraid of losing my balance and falling again. However, as I continued practising, I gradually became more confident and was able to skate around with less difficulty. Overall, I found the roller-skating session a fun and memorable experience!
Reflection from a Year 1 on Passing Down Parade:
The Passing Down Parade was a bittersweet experience for me, as we had to say goodbye to our seniors while welcoming a new batch of leaders for our 团. Although I had only known my seniors for half a year, I was still quite sad to see them go. Over the past few months, they had become familiar faces during our 集合 sessions, and it felt strange knowing that they would no longer be around as often. Even though our time together was relatively short, I am grateful for the guidance and support they have given us. From sharing their experiences to helping us whenever we faced difficulties, they have definitely made my journey in Girl Guides a more memorable one. Looking back, I realised that it does not take years to get to know someone for them to leave a lasting impression on us. At the same time, it was exciting to see the new batch of leaders step up and take on their new responsibilities. It reminded me that as our seniors move on, it is now our turn to learn from them and continue contributing to our 团. Although change can be difficult, it is also something we should embrace, as it gives us the opportunity to grow and create new memories with the people around us. The Enrolment Ceremony was undoubtedly one of the most memorable parts of Passing Down Parade for me. As I raised my hand and recited the Guide Promise alongside my fellow batch mates, I felt a growing sense of belonging. It was a special moment as we officially became part of the Guides family, marking the start of our journey as Guides. Looking around at my batch mates, I realised that we were all taking this step together, each of us beginning a new chapter filled with opportunities to learn and grow. Watching the Year 4s pass down their roles to the Year 3s, as they step up as the new 领导层 also gave me a glimpse of the responsibilities and experiences that awaited us in the years ahead. Although I was only at the beginning of my Guiding journey, the ceremony made me look forward to everything that was yet to come. I hope to make the most of my time in Guides and create many more memories with my patrol mates and batch mates.
Reflection from a Year 2 on Passing Down Parade:
On the day of the Passing Down Parade, I, and a few others, were extremely nervous. Having spent the past few weeks practising our marching, I was looking forward to seeing all our hard work come together on this special day. I was also given the opportunity to be part of the flag party, which made the experience even more meaningful as I attended additional training to prepare for the parade. However ,as a Year 2, this was definitely quite a stressful task, as we would be the ones with the company’s flag itself, and it was of utmost importance that we carried our job out well. During the actual marching, I was extremely proud that all of us stayed solemn and quiet. Thanks to our training, we marched in sync and I was impressed. We had improved a lot from the previous practices and it was extremely heartwarming to watch. I carried out my colour party duties with pride and honour. Even though there were a few miscommunications which caused a few mistakes, we took them all in stride and it provided an opportunity for growth. After the contingent formed a horseshoe formation, we watched as various seniors stepped away from the crowd to receive their new roles. It was extremely inspiring to watch the 58th 届 step up to receive their roles with determination and commitment. I also felt extremely proud of my seniors as I recognised all the hard work they had put in. Their hard work will continue to inspire me to do my best. I learnt that the PDP parade is not just another event, but a celebration of our achievements and a new batch of leaders that will step up. While it is definitely saddening to say goodbye to the seniors, I feel hopeful for the future and am ready to take on new challenges.

Reflection from a Year 1 on Performance:
On 25th June, we had our Passing Down Parade, in which we all put on a performance to express our appreciation to the Year 4s for their guidance throughout our Guiding Journey. For us Year 1s, we put together a skit titled “Different Types of Guides”, featuring some amusing and familiar personalities, such as the Guide who somehow knows what everyone is doing and the one who always forgets to bring her PE shirt. While preparing for the performance, I was curious to see how closely we would be able to follow our original proposal, which included rather detailed timelines. On the actual day, we encountered a small technical issue when our slides could not be loaded. Although this meant that we had to make a few adjustments to our original schedule, we remained focused and carried on with our performance. Thankfully, everything went smoothly thereafter, and it was lovely to see the audience enjoying our skit. The Year 2s kicked off their performances with a series of songs and dances, before ending off with a sweet and meaningful video montage. The Year 3s followed with their own skit and dance, which featured an entertaining dance competition between the different patrols. Similar to the Year 2s, they also prepared a video montage, showcasing never-before-seen pictures of our Year 4 seniors, including some rather unglamorous shots that had everyone laughing! Last but not least, our Year 4s presented a skit and dance, featuring Gwendolyn as the child watching the shows. They too ended off with a video montage, looking back on their journey in Guides. It was lovely to see the different batches put together performances that reflected their personalities, creativity and shared memories. Through our seniors performances, I realised the strong bonds that were made in the 团. Their meaningful songs and video montages showed me how much the Year 4s mean to them. Seeing the effort that they put into their performances made me realise how appreciative and grateful they were to the Year 4s for their support. This in turn makes me look up to my seniors as role models and I hope to carry these lessons of teamwork and adaptability with me to become a leader like them. All in all, this PDP performance was fun, memorable and was a good way to show our thanks, appreciation and love to our year four seniors, who had always been patient and guided us through our struggles. Through this, all of us learnt the meaning of cooperation and communication to be able to execute an amazing performance, as well as teamwork and diligence to be able to even get the ideas, plan and write the script, as well as dances and songs, very well. Additionally, I learnt that even if not everything goes as planned, we will be able to overcome any challenges through teamwork and resilience. This experience taught me the importance of being flexible and maintaining composure under pressure in order to overcome any unexpected challenges thrown our way.
Reflection from a Year 2 on Performance:During our CCA session on 25th June, we had our annual Passing Down Parade, which meant that our Year 4 seniors would soon be stepping down and the Year 3s would be our new leaders of the 团. Leading up to the day, each batch had prepared a performance to show our appreciation to our seniors for their guidance and support throughout their time in Guides. For us, Year 2s, we prepared a series of songs and dances, followed by a video montage. We wanted to include songs that would remind our seniors of the memories we had shared with them and show how much we appreciated everything they had done for us. The video montage included pictures from our past 集合s, patrol activities and other memorable events we had experienced together like our Annual Training Camp, Outdoor Cooking etc. It was especially meaningful to look back at these moments and see how much we had experienced together over the years. We got to sit together as batches to enjoy the performances by the rest of our seniors and juniors! In my opinion, PDP performances are always the most bittersweet moment during PDP. Watching our seniors tear up as they give their final speeches to us, to the 团, as they reminisced and shared ab
out their experiences in Girl Guides made me realise just how much Guides meant to them and how many precious memories they had made throughout their three and a half years here. It also made me feel emotional, knowing that one day, we too would have to stand in their shoes and say our goodbyes.
And with that, the 2026 Passing Down Parade comes to an end. To our Year 4s, thank you for all the memories, guidance and encouragement you have given us throughout our time in Guides. We are truly grateful to have had you as our seniors, and although we will miss seeing you at our 集合s, we hope you will still come back to visit us from time to time. Wishing all of you the very best in whatever lies ahead!
