Searching for?

14 April 2007

hi everyone!

today we had our saturday activity. having in mind to bring back some tradition (not sure if we succeeded in doing so), the year4s built tuan qi today! it was kind-of the first time the sec4s are doing it solely on our own without any external help. we jihe-ed at 7am and started working on the butterfly knots, choosing the mu, taking the equipments like ying sheng, pulley and la sheng and started working on the qi gan. sec3s came at 8am to work on their proposals, peibei&first aid kit and build the xiao dui qi. however, we dragged till about 9am due to the lack of experience (which slowed us down) and some miscommunications as well. we managed to get everything ready by 9+ and started roll call + flag-raising (after raising tuan qi, we raised xiao dui qi)

after flag-raising, sec3s had skills training and sec1s&sec2s had their combined PT. time was very tight because of the delay in the morning. for sec3s, they worked on kitchen dressers and after around 40minutes, sec3s did their pt and sec1s&sec2s, their skills training. for sec3s, they did not perform up to expectation and to top it off, PLTC is coming in about a month+ time, and how are you guys gonna go to PLTC like this?! let's just hope everyone can improve and train to be a better guide and be ready for the camp. after these was coursework, followed by footdrill and then, flag lowering.

there was this incident that i knew of that happened after jihe. some sec4s were helping to keep the equipment (namely, the ying sheng) used for PT at the cage area. some sec3s walked past, and said "byebye." this made us ponder, where is your initiative? did the seniors treat you so badly that you don't even want to help your seniors out? or maybe to you guys, doing these kinda jobs behind the scenes is normal for the seniors and you guys are taking it for granted?

and there was another incident whereby a guide was tucking in her shirt and then trying to pull it out again and a senior went "TUCK IT IN!" why must the same things be repeated over and over again? are the instructions unclear enough or don't yall know basic instructions?

also, there was another incident whereby everyone was issued water break and to our horror, almost ALL the sec1s were sitting down ON THE CHAIRS at the canteen and only rushed to jihe when someone shouted "JIHE KE YI ZUO XIA LAI AH?". do we practise such acts in guides? why must people always be prompted before they take real actions? are water breaks for sitting around?

think about them, food for thought. it's just around 2 more months to passing down.
