Yesterday, the trainees did camp prep and learnt axemanship from the sec3s.

As axemanship is rather new to both sec1s and sec2s, the sec3s decided to teach them the correct method of using an axe to chop wood. They were also introduced to the names of the different parts of the axe as well as the correct method of holding and passing an axe.

During the axemanship session, we noticed that some had their arms crossed while the sec3s were teaching. Like Mrs Chin always emphasise, basic etiquette is very important. When we are listening to someone else, we should not give others the impression that we are not keen to listen to them. Please take note in future!

Other then camp prep and axemanship, the new songleaders had their very first songleader training. They were introduced to the 'mission' of being a songleader and how to conduct a good campfire. They were also taught some songs that were not sang very often in guides and the correct tune for some of the songs that are sang wrongly all the while as well.

Continue to jiayou trainees!!

Today, we had the Annual Training Camp briefing at sec3F classroom and I am very sure the sec1s and 2s were looking forward to it, especially for the groupings and song leaders portion.

Trainees, you will be spending alot of time with your new ATC patrols, so take the opportunity during camp prep period to bond and stick stick stick together! because you will be going through thick and thin as one through the both physically and mentally challenging ATC!

Though at times you may have different points of view and disagree with each other, as patrol mates, you should resolve the problem as soon as possible and continue to co-operate and get things going!

Not to forget, you still have your dearest sec3 councillors with you! If you really do face with any problems and difficulties, remember that the sec3s are more than happy to help you(:

For the new songleaders, you must feel happy and priviledged that you can lead the coy to sing our guides songs during the campfire! At times, you may be requested to leave your patrols during camp prep. However, do find out what you missed out when you left! For those who are not chosen this time round, dont be disappointed cus theres still PLTC!

The guiders and all the sec3s really hope that all trainees will take all trainings serously and give your best. Jiayou everyone! We can do it!

Love DHS guides!!

Today, we did initiatives during ji-he. Some went for ice skating, the others went for Hip Hop.

I went for Hip Hop and I must admit that the Hip Hop session with Mr. Daniel at the NTUC Trade Union house was a much more engaging and memorable one than I thought it would be. All of us were in high spirits and we totally forgot about being shy and just concentrated on how to master the dance moves. (Pics will be up another time cus Blogger has some problems)

First we did some stretching exercises like crunches, push ups and even zhan4 ma3! The crunches were really tiring for us as we felt the ache and stretch in our abs. We also had fun "exploring our head" as we moved our head front and back & left to right with just the neck while keeping our shoulders straight. We certainly had a good laugh!

Next, we started learning dance steps. Though the steps seemed rather challenging to us and we were even confused with some parts, they were said to be of a easy standard by Mr. Daniel.

After learning dance moves for 2 hours, we finally mastered a 3 minute dance(: We finally understood "Tai2 shang4 shi2 fen1 zhong1, Tai2 xia4 shi2 nian2 gong1"'s meaning.

After presenting our short dance to Miss Ngau, Mr. Daniel had a small talk with us. He told us that dance is not an easy activity and dancers would have to train like athletes as they must have a strong body to dance well and to attract the audience.

Life is full of ups and downs as well and we have to be strong and determined in order to emerge as winners. Similarly, if we pia our hardest, endure and do our very best, we would emerge as winners.

Remember, Champions are not those who never fail, but those who never quit!
Hi guides! Finally! Our first jihe after a long exam period! Such a long time since we came together to have some fun!

Well, we had initiatives today- ice skating and hip hop! I'm posting behalf of ice skating, since I signed up for it=)

Ice Skating was fantastic! Many of us learn how to ice-skate and we had "ice fights", catching and many other fun games! Since majority was us were lost and had no idea how to ice-skate, we could only depend on our fellow guides and thus began the coaching session!

Everyone was in their high spirits and it was heart-warming to see the sec 2s helping one another and their sec 1s to glide on the ice rink. The sec 2s had ice fights with our dear sec 1s and we became closer with some juniors whom we initially didn't know. The sec 1s and sec 2s bonded a great deal more and most importantly, we enjoyed ourself thoroughly.

Although there were minor setbacks like people losing their balance and falling, they climbed up and continued to press on till they succeeded. Now many of them can glide like ice-princesses!

Not to forget the guiders, we put in effort to make this possible. To Wu laoshi, we took many many many pictures of us and to Ms Tang, we took great care of us. And to all the guides out there who made this a great success! The enthusiasm put in was really great!

I hope the next initiative will be as successful as this one. Jia you guides!

Keep the passion burning and get ready to rock and roll for our next activity=D
