hi everyone!

hope everyone has had a good rest during this GOOD friday holiday! well, it's time for some major updates!

basically, we welcomed our sec1s in and we had mini campcook + mini OJ on the initiation day. (wow how long ago was that!) the OJ was not a traditional one but served as a series of checkpoints to enforce bonding, hence, not much skills were put to test. it was one of the rare times we used yuan zi lu and yuan zi la to cook because normally we will use twigs to sheng huo. well, the responses from the sec1ss were not very good because they were quite "dao" and unenthusiastic ): but well, we did get some positive responses from some of the sec1s though.

hmm we followed up by some normal jihes to get the sec1s to be more familiar with guides activities, with physical training, skills training and patrol time. we could see that the sec1s thought the physical training was tough (?) well.. guess we gotta step up on these values soon and hopefully instill back the spirit guides used to have!

anyway, one of the major activities have got to be SLEEPOVER! we had a sleepover during the last week of term 1 to end off the term. the sec4s planned hard for this and it turned out to be quite smooth. we started the friday afternoon with another OJ, but this time, it was to put the juniors' skills to test. however, not much spirit and enthusiasm was shown because the sec3s and sec2s were busy completing the tasks while the sec1s stood aside (and did not cheer). so, the atmosphere was literally bad, until towards the end whereby more people started to cheer. however, it was generally a jod well done and good effort made by the juniors. after OJ was dinner (?) and movie screening in the hall while the sec4s prepared their checkpoints for the next activity- night games. well, it was made in a way it somehow resembles night walk and patrols were blindfolded and had to listen to sound source to find their way through to the next checkpoints. (however, there were injuries as some hit their heads against the wall and one girl fell into the drain. BY THE WAY! you guys are supposed to keep one hand on ur forehead while having the other hand protecting your things/holding the person in front okay! alot of you all forgot to put your hand on the forehead! (to prevent you guys from banging into things)) the checkpoints were made as scary as it can be, and the whole school was literally in total darkness. ranging from checkpoints asking you to go up this super narrow stairs all the way to the roof and to checkpoints asking you to find horror pictures, this night game served as a chance for patrol bonding and knowing your own limits better. the night games ended off the night and everyone slept at about 1+am while the sec4s stayed up to do sentry duty.

well, these are a summary of what we did for the past term in a nutshell. it was generally not a very fulfilling term (at least for the sec4s) because we did not see much improvements, either in skills, spirits or attitude wise. but as the saying goes, there's always space for improvements and potentials to be stretched!

hmm for this term, we kicked it off with kayaking, with the sec1s having an introduction to kayaking, sec2s and sec3s takign their 1-star course and sec4s taking their 2-star course. for the sec4s, we turned up for 3 consecutive weeks (saturdays) and had our skin burnt totally. (LOL when we are in school and we want to highlight any guides out, we'd just take a look at the face and see if she's sunburnt. if she is means she is a guide LOL!) for 2-star course, we learnt alot of new and useful strokes like the low brace turn and eskimo rescue ETC. and we learnt alot of useful information about the tidal waves and so on and we learnt how to plan our own trip. today we did something very exciting! we kayaked all the way to CONEY ISLAND!

it was basically a very nice island (LOL okay maybe not) with much much much much cleaner sand than pasir ris beach and it was very serene. it was such a nice place to meditate/to stone!!! (our instructor even fell asleep nicely onshore) we kayaked (very nicely along the waves and kept swaying left and right) to coney island and slacked our day there eating lunch that we brought from home. we played with water, attempted to catch fishes (but failed because the fishes all swim so fast!!!), caught jellyfishes and some weird creatures, and built sandcastles and revive our childhood days (: it was alot of fun for us (hmm?) and it was a very nice day spent. we then kayaked back to pasir ris beach (this time with HUGE waves crashing down on us i grew so tired of kayaking though we managed to kayak straighter as we are now against the waves) we finally finished our expedition and everyone passed their 2-star!!! cheers for us (:

well, it has been an eventful 1/4 of the year and we all certainly hope to see improvement in guides, though it's hard to revive the past but we still hope standards can be improved. thanks for those who have been consistently putting in effort for guides and thanks to those who are makinf an effort to keep guides up. continue working hard guys and we hope that everything will turn out smooth and well before the sec4s passed down (which will be soon?)

JIAYOU EVERYONE! and have a nice sunday ahead before sch starts again ):

look forward to our upcoming jihe this saturday! (14/4/07)

p/s: pardon me for typo errors X)
