Hello guides! I'm here to post about the activity that took place today- session on teaching Sec1s knots and lashes=)

Firstly, I would like to commend the Sec1s for taking initiative to come up with this session when they knew they had to brush up their skills. Some were very spontaneous during the activity, while others lacking in enthusiasm, try to maintain a more positive attitude the next time round!

We had an hour on teaching the Sec1s basic lashes, after which they were required to build a shoe rack, a baggage rack and a clothes line. Good effort could be seen among the Sec1s when they tried to perfect their knots and remembered to ask for time extension. The Sec1s rotated as PLs and took turns to take charge of their patrol. However, I think there is a greater need for a sense of urgency, you guys got to learn to work faster. Sec 1s! Improve your skills and pia harder for the next activity=)

Also, I would like to thank the Sec2s for coming back to teach our Sec1s, not forgetting our Sec4s who came all the way back to school just to help us with today's session. Thank you!

In all, I hope the Sec1s remembered what they learn today. Do not be disheartened, learn your mistakes and do a better job next time! Maintain a positive attitude, respect one another and help each other out! I'm sure everyone has benefited from today's session=)

Lastly, jia you to all the guides involved in the orientation performance and preparation. Merry Christmas once more.

HELLO ONE & ALL! :D

17 December 2007
The Secondary 3s(2007) met up with the Guiders and Pin Qi to discuss about goal setting and activities for 2008. The Guiders treated us to lunch, which consisted of KFC and Pizza Hut, and we also enjoyed Miss Tang's hand-made pudding! It was finger-licking good, and after lunch, we proceeded with our discussions. After a few hours, we came up with specific goals to achieve in 2008 before leaving.

Today all the guides came back for camp clean-up and orientation preparation. After informing everyone of what they are supposed to do for orientation, the I/Cs of the various orientation groups met up with their members to begin discussion for orientation, or to start practising for orientation. We had lunch(NASI LEMAK :D) before continuing with orientation preparation. After the dismissal, the Secondary 3s(2007) met up with the Guiders and Pin Qi once again to continue with our discussion.

:D

The list of orientation groups and members will be up soon, so that one and all can refer to it! :D The holidays are ending, and school is starting! Orientation is coming, so let's all get ready to welcome a new batch of Secondary 1s to continue the guiding spirit while making friends. Let's show them what sisterhood is, let's show them what we are made of, let's show them the spirit of Dunman High Girl Guides! :D

Last but not least, the holidays are ending.
Have you started on your homework? :D
Haha ok, enjoy the remaining days of holidays. & Here's an early christmas blessing:
Early Merry Christmas! :D

Hi guides! More about ice-climbing and bowling during international camp!

We played a total of 5 games of bowling at Yishuan SAFRA!! (:

Then after lunch, we proceeded to our next activity, ice climbing! We were a little disappointed when we saw the styrofoam boards at first as we thought we were climbing real ice! But nevertheless, we went on with our activity! We had to put on special ice-climbing equipment like ice-climbing shoes and the two hammer-shaped equipment used to whack into the boards so we can hold on to them and move up.

Looks easy but it sure isn't! We had to rely heavily on our arm strength to whack the hammer-shaped equipment into the wall and to pull us up the wall. all of us were sweating profusely after the activity! we were all thankful that we weren't climbing real ice cus it would have been a much much tougher journey!

here're the pictures(:
Bowling!
Ice-climbing!

nope, we didn't climb the rock wall! we climbed the styrofoam wall (aka. ice wall), which is on the right of the picture!

that's all! see y'all soon!

Hey guides!

Some of us also went for batik painting which was actually painting on fabric and waxing. At first, we did not know what was batik painting exactly, until we went for this activity and we had fun waxing and mixing the dyes together to get different shades of colours that we want. At the end of the day, we were proud to showcase our batik painting and was framed, free-of-charge. ;D

Few of us went to Pulau Ubin to cycle on the fourth day, and for the Year3s who went, that was already the third time to Pulau Ubin in one month! This time, the route was different because many of us travelled to the other part of Pulau Ubin, which was filled with myths and stories from the past. We realised that the west side of Pulau Ubin was much more scenic because there are more quarries for us to see. Some of the stories were also interesting, like the german girl who died in one of the quarries on the west side of Pulau Ubin. Through this trip to Pulau Ubin, we learnt a lot more about it, its stories and myths and they are far more interesting than we had expected.

Throughout this 5 days 4 nights, we met friends from different schools and learnt from each other. We got to see different types of gadgets that they built and some of them were very innovative, which is what we can learn from! We shared guiding experiences with one another and got to know what kind of activities other guides do during normal jihe and learn how we can improve ourselves too. In all, we enjoyed this opportunity to go for this camp and made new friends! ;D
