HELLO!!!

On Friday, all the guides from sec 2s to sec 4s were clad in our guides uniform to commemorate Thinking Day 2008, except for the new batch of sec 1s who wore their school uniform. We formed our squad and stood there for quite a while as our school were also welcoming our friends from Thailand. Everything went smoothly for flag raising. For the entire Friday, we jing li to our seniors, guiders and scouters as a mark of respect, while the sec 1s did the left hand shake.

After school, everyone jihe-d at 1.45pm at the parade square to observe the flag-lowering ceremony. Then, we had our outreach briefing held by Li Hui, Jennifer and Kimberley. (outreach will be held this coming saturday, 1/3/08)

On Saturday, most of the patrols went to the KFC and Macdonalds situated near our old school campus for patrol lunch before heading to Kallang Indoor Stadium to celebrate World Thinking Day. Beside guides and brownies from Singapore, there were also a group of guides from other countries who were present in the stadium.

The first 1.5 hours was mainly a sing-a-long session, followed by the arrival of Mrs S R Nathan, Patron of Girl Guides Singapore. After the delivering of the Thinking Day Message and renewal our promise, we proceeded to the presentation of the Puan Noor Aishah Award. Our Company received a total if 1 bronze and 1 gold award!! (: This shows that our hard work has paid off and we must thank everyone for their effort, especially our sec 4s who spent so much time planning all the programmes for us.

As the word "Thinking Day" suggests, we should take this opportunity to think of our sister Guides around the world and to celebrate our international friendship links. As we renew our Promise and give thanks, let us commit ourselves to continue to develop and empower girls and young women to be the best they can be and to be the leaders of the future, dedicated to building a better world for all. Discover you potential- Every Guide a Leader

Let the guiding light continue to shine in DHS company!

(Oh yah! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to Jia Wen and Teo Ee and Michelle!!! =D)

hi guides!

today was the practice session for Thinking Day observation.

we did basic squad forming and basic footdrill. progress was slow at first because the sec4s were assigning places for guides who could not attend today's session. however, we soon found out that on the actual day itself, people might be absent and it will again, affect the positions of everyone. so, we carried on with the total number we had and finally got things going! (sec3s, remember!)

Thinking Day is this Friday! please remember to come in your guides uniform and wear it throughout the day till after flag lowering!

juniors, if you see guide seniors, guiders or scout masters, remember to jing li. as for sec1s, remember to give the guides 'left hand shake' (which we will show you soon) when you see your other sec1 guides friends and seniors!
bye(:

Hello!
its my first time blogging for the guides blog, so forgive me if i sound a little weird:/

Anyway, last friday was the combined UG campfire for our new lovely sec 1s from St john's, NPCC, Girl Guides & Scouts!

It was a really great night, thanks to our dearest I/Cs for planning this for the past weeks. The whole thing was pretty large scale, with the Guides in charge of decoration, while the rest prepared the campfire pit, the gateway, backdrop and the stage. Everyone was pretty busy putting up the deco, the banners and preparing for the performance. Though the progress was slow initially, we managed to finish everything as the arrival of the sec ones drew closer. The overall appearance was impressive.

The sec ones soon arrived, settling down for dinner at the grandstand under the big blue sky. As the sun began to set, the campfire kicked off with the much anticipated lion dance performance by the scouts to welcome our Guest of Honor,Mdm Chia.

The sec ones soon began to get high under the enthusiasm of the 4 UGs and our dearest emcees, Hannah from Guides( woohooo!!!) , Karmen from NPCC, Jason from SJAB and Weihong from Scouts. Not to mention our song leaders who trained really hard and sang really loud as well!
There was an interesting display of mascot costumes and we sent out our really cute mascot, Michelle, who twirled & skipped around the staged in her costume.

We sang songs like Campfire's Burning(which was sang in 2 versions)burn burn burn!! and other traditional guides songs. The campfire soon reached the climax with the WONDERFUL MASS DANCE!!!! All of us got really high and did the mass dance for 3 times! The dancers on stage showed us how to boogie woogie along with the music.~~We also did the popular maboleh and Chekchekgolek, sending the sec ones into barrels of laughter:D

The skit was really funny and lame! Our very own Goldilocks, Ovidia, demonstrated our guides spirit of sharing and caring for each other by using her hair as amo! hahaha! dont try it at home!

The campfire soon came to an end...much to our disappointment, with really slow songs like:by the blazing campfire etc...leaving the sec ones in lullabye mode.

Overall, the campfire was a great sucess! all thanks to all of you guys who put in the effort for making all these possible! Thanks alot to our dearest YALs for coming back to help too! It was a memorable night which the sec ones will never forget(:

cheers!

Hi guides! Today was CNY celebration in school and guides set up a games booth at the field. we came at 6.40 to prepare and we soon got three catapults, one throw-ball station and one archery station up. Classmates and friends certainly had fun shooting us with water bombs while a few others tried to throw through the holes and hit the cans down! Here're the pictures!
