Here's another story to share:

SHARPEN YOUR AXE
Allan, a woodcutter, was employed in a timber companyfor ten years, yet he never got a raise. The company later hired Richard to do the same job. However, Richard got a raise within the first twelve months. Allan was disappointed and decided to approach the management of the company. He was told that his production had never increased over the last ten years. On the other hand Richard had cut more trees in the period of one year. The company however promised to give Allan a raise if his production goes up. He went back to work and tried harder but unfortunately his result did not improve. One day he happened to meet Richard and decided to get Richard’s advice. Richard told Allan that after he cut down a tree, he would take a short break to sharpen his axe. Allan suddenly realized that he was too busy cutting down trees that he failed to take a break to sharpen his axe.

SUCCESS PRINCIPLES
It is important to take a break from the pressure of work to go on a holiday once in a while. Have a break to take care of your physical body and your precious mind. Spend some time on self-development to improvey ourself and to renew your mind. There are plenty of seminars, books, tapes and materials in the market. Make it a habit to search for good books to read, anda ssociate with people who are successful and with the same wave length and you will surely see success.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE
"Obstacles can't stop you. Problems can't stop you. Most of all, other people can't stop you. Only you can stop you."

--------------------------------------

To the sec3s who are taking on future leadership roles, remember, do not be pushovers. Obstacles cannot stop you, only you yourself can stop yourself. Unite as a batch, and uphold our tradition and standard, if not, improve them. Do not give up despite the difficulties and do not despair in times of troubles. Only you can make guides better now, the responsibility falls on all 23 of you. The ball is in your court, get it rolling sec3s. The sec4s are passing down, and we all hope to see guides in a good, if not, better shape when we come back. All the best, do guides proud, do your patrol proud, do your seniors proud, and most of all, do YOURSELF proud.

Do not succumb to failures, do not stop giving in your best. Let your passion continue this big responsibility that you all will hold, let your love for guides fill in those space of doubts and low confidence. Allow your passion to ignite to shine and guide your juniors, only then, can you all unite as a coy and work together as one. Do not slacken off once you all take over, do not stop working. Only consistent hard work will result in improvements and success. Do not let guides be just a mere CCA to you. Let it be something you are proud of, let it be something you put your heart and soul in, let it be something you take pride and honour in.

Guides has brought us many fond memories, and may you all behold such fond moments too. Treasure your times in guides, the sec1s and sec2s, for it won't be long before the new tide sets in. "Out with the old, in with the new", this is an inevitable process. The sec4s leave and the sec3s take over, you guys get promoted and the sec1s come in. Do not allow this process to become a setback to you all, let it be a motivation for everyone of you to work harder for the betterment of guides. Do not expect lesser of yourself, push yourselves to your limit everytime you participate in guides activities. Let your limit have another limit, keep discovering your own potential. Do not give up at the thought of, "Wah so chor, I want to slack." Guides is not born with slackers, the reason why DHScoy stands strong today in Singapore is because we are born with winners who fight their way through.

We trust you all, and although trust is free, do not misplace our trust in you guys. Continue shining in guides and do each and everyone of us proud. And may the passing down cum farewell ceremony in week 2 leave us the last best memory we will ever have, do not disappoint us, the sec4s.

With great power comes great responsibility.
It's not about what you can get from guides, but what you can give for guides.
Guides is more than just a CCA.

All the best, Dunman High Girl Guides.

ps: KEEP UPDATING THIS BLOG SEC3s, SEC2s AND SEC1s!!!!! (why is it always the sec4s and occasionally a few sec3s?!)
