Skills test

It was the Guides skills test yesterday. The purpose of the test was to allow the sec 2s and the next leading batch to get a good feel on leadership, and to prepare the sec1s on the skills needed during Annual Training Camp.

Our first checkpoint was near 4K/4L classroom.

We did the firemen ladder and roman chariot. Some sec1s might not tried it out yet thus being afraid to try at first but I thought we did great! There were also mistakes which we made like the alignment of the 木 and the way we tied it. Urgency and efficiency had to improve.

Our second checkpoint was at the container classrooms.

It was a test of our first aid knowledge. The sec1s was asked to find 4 strips of paper and rearrange them into the “edibility test” sequence. After that, we built a stretcher, and had to carry a casualty for a distance. We had to build emergency shelters as well. From this checkpoint, we learned that we have to take care of own own things as both patrols' 白绳 was taken away.

Our third checkpoint was at the grandstand.

We had to complete a kitchen dresser in 40 minutes. Here, the sec1s made full use of the skills they learned such as square lash, diagonal lash and tripod. The sec 1s also learned how to raft the bamboos. We managed to build a standard tripod with no fei jiaos and P8 finished the whole structure in the designed time. It was a great accomplishment. However, I felt that we had to improve on lashes.

Our last checkpoint was at the other end of the grangstand.

The lashes test. We had to tie our own square lash, diagonal lash, and tripod individually. It was definitely effective. The sec1s were taught tips on how to improve. And to the sec2s, it was a test to prove how much we have grown over the year.

All in all, the skills test was effective and i believe everyone learned along the way. Be it the sec 3s who had put their utmost effort in planning this for us. Thank you sec3s !加油!This marks the end of our guides activity for this term. Everyone must now concentrate on their exam studies. Fight on!

Love guides!
