Hi Guides!

Yesterday was the first official jihe of term 2, after so many weeks of break. It was overwhelming, really, seeing a hundred and sixteen girls jihe-ing together under the hot sun. Our company has grown tremendously in numbers but will we still manage to uphold the standard of DHS guides?

Anyways, year 1s, here are some points to take note of: When you come to school for guides, always put your bags outside tuan bu in neat rows and pass all valuables to you QM for safe-keeping. Don't just sit around in the canteen, then only make a dash to tuan bu at the last few seconds before jihe time. But, it was good to see majority of you on time for your first jihe. The senior taught yall the proper 礼节, how to 敬礼, attire, run from point to point etc. And so, we started out with PT. Year 1s were split into p1-4, p5-6 and they rotated between Ovidia & yingjie's station and Xinyi's station.

At Xinyi's station, year 1s had "Patrol Race". They had to wheelbarrow, crab walk, do burpees, ding girls style pumping, and run around the track. Overall, I felt that the difficulty level was not pitched that high so, year1s, be prepared to expect more from OJ. I could see that some of you were dying from the heat... Do not give up at the thought of, "Wah so chor, I want to slack." Guides is not born with slackers, the reason why DHSCOY stands strong today in Singapore is because we are born with winners who fight their way through. If you sit down and slack, think about your entire patrol dinging pumping position waiting for you to come back so they can complete the race. So hold onto each other, you girls are from ONE jie, cheer each other on and give each other the strength to go on. Also, you'll have to put in more effort in studying notes for OJ okay? Jia you!!!

At Ovidia's station, the year1s had to ding guides mu and a pail of water while doing zha ma bu. Even though it was something new to them, I could see the determination and effort you all put in, and from the grandstand, Icould hear your voices cheering loud. Well done guides! :D

After that, it was skills training. Year 1s were taught square lash and diagonal lash. I'm glad to say the year 1s learnt it really fast, and most managed to tie the lashes within 4 - 5mins. Yay! Remember practice makes perfect, if you are bored at home or something, just pick up 2 pens or chopsticks and practice these lashes. Pretty soon you will be able to tie more impressive structures on your own.

Lunch. The year 1s were introduced to our tradition of calling everyone before we start eating, so don't forget next time. Oh yes, during guides jihe, we are not allowed to buy drinks, so just drink from the water cooler. It was good that some of you came to ask me first before buying. :)

As for songleader audition, we broke up into our patrols and learnt guides songs. Some were singing their hearts out but some patrols were feeling rather down....Why? Don't be shy, learn to open up ok, singing together is a time when we all relax and enjoy, and just sing out hearts out.

Then, it was patrol activity and jie san.

Mrs Chin shared with us her story of the di-da song, remember? So SMILE :D everyone, and look forward to our next guides activity.

The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible. I hope that in the upcoming guides activities, everyone will put in their best and surpass your own limits to raise the standard of dhs guides. Make our seniors proud of us, yes? :D

LOVE DHS GUIDES :)
