Hi guides,

On Wednesday we had our first major event (year 1 CCA orientation) of the year and the final touch up started before and after flag raising. The year 4s guides came earlier at 6.50 to prepare and make sure that everything was ready. However everything was quite chaotic during the first session, as the years 1s start coming in and there were still some stuff undone. The flow of the orientation ran smoother in the second session, after a dry run done during the break.

The outdoor cooking section was very good, the food tasted very nice and many year1s got to try out different foods (bread, chicken) that were cooked with the fire altar which was meant for using indoors. The newly designed fire alter is both stable and portable. Many year 1s also had the chance to get up the campsite, and most of them came down saying that it was very cool.

At the games section, though it started out quite awkward, we still manage to push or persuade the year1s to go try out the games, especially for gladiator. Performance people also did a great job and we could see all that the year1s were amazed by the speed and agility of the performers.

Last but not least, the dismantling and clearing up of the area was fast though there is still room for improvement.

Before jihe ended, the seniors evaluated us on our overall performance. There is still many room for improvement and we hope that we would not repeat all those mistakes again.

Something to share, yesterday the Ics had a overall debrief and Mr Seow told us something that made all of us happy. A year 1 student's parent had called him to tell him that her son had enjoyed the orientation alot and he was very impressed by our cca exibition. Good job to everyone who made this orientation happen and we hope that there would be more year 1s this year who are joining our big family :)

Have a nice weekend and rest well! =)
