Hello Guides :)

On Wednesday 6th of January, we had our CCA orientation cum exhibition to showcase to the secondary ones at the library area. All the Guides had to bring their Guides Unifrom and ji-he in Coy tee. For our CCA orientaion, we had mainly 4 areas, the kitchen tent, the gateway the games section and the booth.

Immediately after flag raising, the year 4s and 3s jihed outside the library while the year 2s came at around 9. Before the secondary ones came, we all had to check for loose knots on the main frames of the gateway and the kitchen tent. We also had to ensure that everything was in order and we had prepared the orientation gifts.

When the Secondary ones came in, they entered by our impressive-looking gateway and we welcomed them with a loud cheer. With the help of the usherers, the Sec Ones were brought around to the different spots.

Firstly, the showcasing area where the decoration group had came up with, the Secondary ones were able to look at the trophies and the past achievements throughout the year attained by DHS guides and scouts. They were also able to look at posters showing pictures, summarizing what activities we do and how Guides and Scouts also instill sisterhood and brotherhood.

At the kitchen tent, they were also introduced to the fire alter, kitchen dresser etc. The sec ones were even given the chance to eat the food that we cooked and it was really yummy! We had food laid out, e.g pineapple rice, chicken, bread made from homemade dough dipped in jam/ kaya. I'm sure the sec ones had a finger- licking good time. The sec ones were also able to try out and go up to the kitchen tent, sit on the chair we made and have a look at the equipments in a xiao-dui-xiang.

At the games section, they were also introduced to traditional games Guides and Scouts play. like Archery, Kims Games, gladiator. They were also treated to sweets.

During the performance time, all 4 Uniform Groups had to showcase and present a performance. Our Guides performed sheng qiao and fireman's ladder while the Scouts performed lion dance and sourgrapes also know as gua ling. All the performers performed with aplomb! Bravo and good job!

Throughout our CCA orientation, the guides and scouts should improve on our sense of urgency during prep and when cai1-ing everything. For one example, when the year 1a came, some things were still not done. This is definetely one point we must improve on. Take note of tightening your lashes as to make sure your structure is stable. We also should pick up all the rubbish that we see on the ground and take initiative to help when others need help.

I am sure through this orientation, we have learnt a lot. For example, i am sure some guides were tying a gateway the very first time. Good job to all Guides and Guiders for making 2010 orientation happen! Rest well!

Love Guides :D
