Contingent practice

Hi Guides!

On Wednesday, we had contingent practice at the parade square from 1700-1800 to prepare for World Thinking Day. Here are some pointers to take note of:

  • When in sedia position, elbows should be locked. Hence the whole arm should look completely straight. Also, look straight and do not fidget. Wrigging the toes can help to improve blood circulation while in sedia position.
  • Be alert at all times so that there is no lag when a command is given. This way, we won't have to keep on going back to our original position (semua)
  • When lifting your leg to "check", position it at a right angle. This makes the move look smart.
  • Likewise, when marching, the hand in front should be at a right angle to your body while the hand at the back should be at an angle of 45°.
Some of you may ask: why do we need to do foot drill? Well, foot drill instills discipline in the members of the squad. By not fidgeting, we are demonstrating our self-control. Taking pride in how you march and attire also shows your attitude. If you want to do something, do it well. Try your best, isn't that what we emphasize in Guides too?:) Finally, foot drill is not about the individual but the squad. Even if one person messes up, the whole thing will look ugly. It is everyone's responsibility to ensure the overall smartness of the foot drill. So help one another out, teach your batchmates and juniors if you see them having problems, or ask your seniors if you're unsure of what to do. One for all and all for one!:D
