On 21st March, the year 3s and year 4s went to Meridian Junior College to learn rock climbing. At the first part of the whole course, the instructors taught us the various parts of rock climbing and the safety issues. We learnt how to use the rope and the harness, and also how to be a belayer.
Before we went for lunch break, we paired up and practice belaying for our partners. After this, some of us are able to attempt climbing the 13m rock wall. A few managed to reach the top. After several attempts had been made, we went for a lunch break at the food court near the Meridian Junior College.
After having our lunch, we went back continued trying to climb the rock wall at least 3 times for each person. At least half of us managed to climb to the top of the 13m wall. However, nobody managed to climb to the top at the difficult part where the wall begins curving outwards. Nevertheless, our instructors told us that we did very well. Unfortunately, we had to end our course earlier due to the presence of lightning.
Everybody had great fun that day. The instructors even let us played Frisbee for a while when some of us were exhausted from climbing the rock wall. Thankfully, no major accidents had occurred. Everybody had learnt something that day and most importantly, we enjoyed ourselves.
Love guides :)
